FAQ: Which tabbing machine do I need if I want to do clear tabs?

The All For Mailers answer:

Tabbing Machines that do clear tabs or wafer seals
|
|
The easy answer would be to say “Get a floor model tabber - wafer sealer like the Rena XPS ProTab or a Secap Jet 1” Then all you need to do when ordering clear - transparent wafer seals is to make sure the tabs that you purchase have a black stripe behind the tab and white between the tabs. But not everyone can justify the cost of a floor model unit. So we go to the table top tabbers,,

NEW OPTION! The Rena T-950 In-Line Table Top Tabber! The Floor Model tabber shrunk down to a table top version! Applies Clear Tabs without a problem!

1st on the list would be the Rena UT361 Double Tabber! Of the table top models this is the most accurate and consistent wafer sealer for clear tabs. This well thought out unit does not care what the tab looks like, it doesn’t have a sensor to sense the tab! Instead it micro steps the tab forward using a pin fed tab drive system. The drawback, a small hole in the center of your tab, and you need to buy tabs that are fan folder and made for the UT361,

2nd you have what may be the most common and reliable tabber on the market. The Accufast KT. This is also the easiest tabber to setup and use. Older models of this unit can not do a clear tab without an upgrade! New models can apply a clear wafer seal. For best results you should reset - cycle the sensor to reset the sensitivity (if you don’t know how to do this, e-mail support@allformailers.com and we will send you instructions.)

3rd would be the Secap 1020 - 1030 W350. It has a sensor that can be easily adjusted for clear wafer seals on backing paper with black behind the tab and a white stripe between the tab. However,, we have made this unit our last choice for several reasons. The biggest reason, is because of the way the tab sensor is built. It is enclosed and very hard to properly clean. Tabs can and will get stuck inside. Even if you get the tab out, often glue is left behind on the sensor lens. Then replacing the sensor can be costly. On a Accufast KT you can get the sensors for under $20. On this unit your lucky if you can find it for under $200. Making it a good unit for a servicing company, but not the end user.
